NHS Trusts launch new video to get people talking about their mental health

Black Country Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust and Dudley Integrated Health and Care NHS Trust have launched a video campaign to encourage people to talk about their mental health.

Launching on World Mental Health day on 10th October, the campaign demonstrates how mental health issues can affect anyone and that it should not be a subject which people should be ashamed to talk about. With 1 in 4 people* experiencing a mental health problem of some kind each year, which has further increased since the Coronavirus pandemic, the video also aims to raise awareness of the support the Trusts provide and encourage people to seek help early.

Judy McDonald, Chief Nurse at Black Country Healthcare Trust, said: “There is still a lot of stigma surrounding mental health, with 40%** of people not seeking help when needed because of this. We have worked in partnership with Dudley Integrated Health and Care NHS Trust to deliver a campaign which challenges this stigma and shows that anyone at any time can experience a mental health issue and that it is OK to ask for help.

“Our services offer both online and talking therapies and we would encourage anyone who feels like they would benefit from our services to come forward and talk to us. Details of how to make contact can be found on our dedicated campaign page.”
